Windows will take more time to load.
I'm not sure if programs launched afterwards will also suffer from this.
After a google search it seems to say it will also use system resources once windows is loaded.
I was asking because my friend just told me "I've just installed 6000 (six thousand) fonts"
So I asked why in the world he would need all that and that it'll just slow down his PC. And he said well my PC is fast, so I said then why dont you remove the 6000 fonts you'll never even use 0.5% of, and sell your PC and get a PII 300mhz with 128 mb ram, itll run just like his 2200+ orwhatever cpu he has with 1gb ram.
Anyway, after quoting a bunch of google results that say it will significantly slow down and waste resources he removed them.
Yeah, clicker, and there was actually a 1k limit for windows in earlier versions (and I assume one of your links points to such a detail now, right?), but you could create a separate folder to "store" the excess ones. Never made sense though: just keep them on the darn CD's.
Actually most sites said anything above 300, others said 800, would significantly waste system resources.
