Old Backup
I no longer use 1 step backup since I retired and sold my business. I recently had a bad computer crash that took out not only my primary hard drive, but also took out the separate backup hard drive. After several months of trying to find someone to recover any data from either drive, I had given up on recovering any data. Looking through some old boxes of business records, I found a CD that may contain some of the very important data I am trying to recover. The problem, however, is that it is an old backup from October 2004, and I don't have any software that will read the disc. What software do I need to be able to read and/or restore this data (I am running Windows XP SP 2)? Just reading the data will be a help, but actual restoration would be better that peanut butter! HELP!!

Welcome to Windrivers chuckok
What was it backed up with and on what operating system? What is the file extension of the back up file?

Re: Old Backup
The backup was created in Windows 98. There is no file extension; it is listed as backup job 1 and the date.

If it was the backup facility builtin to 98, XP backup can read it. Have you XP home or XP Pro?
