Microsoft no longer has IE 5.5 available on its web site. Does anyone know where I can get a copy? I have around 200 computers still running Win95 and cant load IE6 on them. I want to upgrade them to IE5.5 service pack 2.

If you don't really need 5.5, they still have 5.01 sp2 here!

we've got IE 5.5 sp2 stored on our network shares at work. If you can't find it on the net pm your address to me and I'll burn a copy and mail it to you.
I would rather have 5.5, we got hit with nimda last year and I know 5.5 sp2 had the holes patched. I shouldnt have to worry too much, since then we got a new firewall and I was able to talk our Dir. of Tech. into purchasing Norton corporate, but I would still like to keep IE as patched up as I can.
Kato, thanks for the offer. I will do a few more searches before I have you burn me a copy. I will let you know if I'm able to find it.
Click here right click on the file name en_ie55sp2.zip and save target as.... hope you are not on dialup.... 85mb :eek2:
I hate to dissent but i ran a windows 95b computer with IE 6 just fine. Had a bunch of people tell me you couldn't do it. Worked fine for over a year until my PC was upgraded (work machine).
Thanks for the link noonoo. I'm on DSL at home and a T1 at work.
I havent tried IE6 yet on the win95 machines I might have to try it on a couple of them and see how well it runs. They are all K6-233's with 32MB of RAM. Some of them are underclocked to 166 because of instability issues. I cant wait until they are all phased out. We are replacing close to 100 of them this summer.

i seen that the other day. anyone know why?
Could be because it was a terribly unstalbe browser. I had nothing but problems with it.
But here it is on ZDNET:

I think it is an unsavory reminder to everyone using 95 that support for that OS is no longer available. IE5.0 is old enough to make me cringe, I have been downloading everything I can for 95, As I still have users running this OS…I suggest anyone with this concern should be doing the same…Quote:
