Windows 8 install
Hi all
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, don't post that much.
I have just brought:
ASRock 970-PRO3 AMD Skt AM3+ ATX 7.1 HD
AMD Trinity A8-5600K Black Edition 3.6GH
Geil EVO Potenza Onyx Black Single Chann
Seagate 500GB 3.5" Sata III 7200rpm
LITE-ON LiteOn 24x Int. DVDRW Black SATA
Aerocool GT Advance Mid Tower Black
Sparkle Nvidia Geforce GTX750TI 2048MB
Cooler Master GX-Lite 600W Power Supply
Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit English OEM
I haven't built it yet just wanted to bench install it first.
Started the Windows 8 install, went through setting the language, partitioning the hard drive and putting the code in.
After what should be a restart the screen is just blank.
Started the process again and same results.
Now it won't post at all.
Tried removing the graphics card and just using the on-board, no go.
Tried different memory, no go.
Tried clearing the CMOS, no go.
Am I looking at a duff motherboard or does anybody know if it is a compatibility issue?
Any suggestions would be great.
Many thanks.

There are a number of people at Newegg that complained about bad boards and one at least that mentioned cpu clip not holding cpu tightly.
Read through those reviews -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=-1&isNodeId=1
ps: I always also recommend looking at the manufacturers' site for supported cpu's -> http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970%20Pro3/?cat=CPU

What a plonker.
I have just realised I posted the wrong motherboard model, it should be ASRock FM2A88X Extreme4+ ATX FM2+.
The processor won't even fit on the other board.
I have had a look in the ASRock website as suggested by CCT for AD560KWOHJBOX CPU but can't find it at all.
It isn't listed in the motherboard support list for the board I have so I tried to find which board supports it.
Any body any idea's.
Thanks

I also had a look at the ASRock website for the CPU list and it
doesnt appear to be there at all which is a little weird cause you said,
""Started the Windows 8 install, went through setting the language, partitioning the hard drive and putting the code in.
After what should be a restart the screen is just blank."""""
So your saying it did run long enough to do that?
Have you contacted ASRock?

Problem solved, I contacted the company I purchased the hardware from and they said they should be compatible.
After further tests it turns out that the motherboard is faulty.
Thanks for the advise CCT and Ferrit.
As you say Ferrit the processor isn't listed on the ASRock web site at all and yes I managed to get that far twice.
Thanks again.
