Grey import licenses are software licenses purchased legally in one country, and imported illegally to another country. Most software purchased in North America says "For sale in the USA and Canada only." The reason the term "grey" is used, is because the software itself is licensed legally, however it's use in an unauthorized country is not.

RE: imported microsoft products
the following is a cut and paste from one of the UKs leading supply companys : 410 Software Microsoft Office '97 Pro, imported £84.26 £99.00 inc VAT (value added tax) 3769 Software Microsoft Office 2000 Pro, imported £126.81 £149.00 inc VAT this is cleaarly quoted on there webpage (the name of the Co. will remain obscure) NOTE: anybody buying this software will not recieve support ....because it is a USA product. Much as i disagree with copys at about £5.oo a copy is there any point in paying £126.81 for a ....non registered copy. NOTE: in the UK they stick 17.5% on everything (pays for the missiles etc....sick) cost of living in UK 20 cigs £4.50 gal of petrol £4.00 minimum wage (about) £3.80 ok uk guys dont quote me on the pennys ! |
