Plextor16x 10x 40x

Has anybody heard that if you stick a pin in the back of this writer it will run faster. Or did the sales person from www.macena.com try to sell bull. I think the burner is amazing anyway I put the pin in I don't know if it is faster how would I check the speed ?
The price there was very good 215 she didn't need to sell it any more it was sold anyway!

Stick a pin where?!?

AlienDyne April 19th, 2001 05:21 AM

Never heard such trick!

SmirnoffBlu April 19th, 2001 05:31 AM

Sounds a bit far fetched to me...!

Also one thing they forgot 2 tell u is that
it can make a cup of coffee if you stroke
it nicely...!

In the rear panel left of the audio output it looks like another place to put jumper pins in.It only has 1 set of pins for a jumper.
But the pin they gave me is about 1 inch it looks like an allan wrench there is a hole next to the pins you put it in there.
In the users guide it says Not used.

AlienDyne April 19th, 2001 05:41 AM

Well, you just have to check it and let us all know. I hope it's not another selling-trick!

Good luck!

Club75 April 19th, 2001 05:44 AM

So anybody know how to check the speed ?

AlienDyne April 19th, 2001 05:49 AM

I would see the remaining time the software reports, or use my own watch.

The 'Pin' that is supplied in the box that looks like an Allan key, is to eject the drawer if it gets jammed, not to stick in teh back to supposedly speed the drive up. If you ask me the salesperson is speaking utter crap.

SmirnoffBlu April 19th, 2001 08:41 AM

And to stir the coffee of course...

:D :D :D :D :D

I used to have one too. It worked well on my wind up car. I turned the key and it went faster. I mean, a firmware upgrade or a software patch I could understand, but joining two pins?? Reminds me of the old turbo button on 486. If they could make the hardware faster, they would sell it as a faster CD. (IMHO) :D

I haven't tested it I suspected it was false anyway. At least now I know what that thing that looks like an allen wrench is for.The lying sales person from Macena found a convient spot for it so now I will not loose it! I love the drive it works much better than the HP I used to use and very fast!
