OK try this.
- Uninstall the HP CDR software.
- Install [the ASPI layer from here
- Reboot the machine
- Using WMP8, then try to burn an audio cd from a few MP3's.
- If teh Audio CD then burns, you can then go about installing the CDR mastering software (as long as it is not an extremely old version)
This works with 99% of current CDRW drives.

Or you could always wait until HP put new XP dreivers on their website when XP hits the stores... https://forums.windrivers.com/

Or he could get some Tucks Medicated Pads. https://forums.windrivers.com/ https://forums.windrivers.com/ They solve most burning problems.Quote:

I tried 6 different burning progs before I found NTI CDmaker PRO. It's the only one that works flawlessly in XP, although others claim they will.
Nero, Adaptec, WinonCD, CDRWin, and Fireburner all failed, with one error or another.

Very strange that as I have just gone out & bought a Plextor PlexWriter 241040A and installed the Version of Nero that came with it and burnt at 24X straight away with no errors!!!! Even CDR-WIN 4.0 beta burns at 24x with no errors at all!!! CloneCD works fine as well. Haven't tried Roxio yet (and probably won't as I have gone off EZCD immensely) also haven't tried CeQuadrat WinOnCD neither.Quote:

I haven't had any problems at all.
If you do get any problems such as 'No CDRW detected' just install the ASPI layer that I posted in my prior post.

strange... i use nero, discjuggler, and fireburner all the time and i never had any problems with it running on winxp. maybe you should try the LSI ASPI Drivers for Windows NT and 2000 available here. don't forget to follow the instructions on how to enable support for ATAPI devices.
Well...the basic problem lies in the version of XP that I have. The ASPI layer needed to be upgraded badly, and once that was done, I encountered less problems.
CloneCD works fine, and I managed to even get Adaptec (EZCD) to work eventually. My post above refers to the ease of installation and use, without messing with ASPI.
Newer Betas and PRs of XP probably won't have the same troubles I did.
You can find NTI Pro at the software houses (www.tucows.com www.hotfiles.com) and it's a 30 day demo.

I must admit Jim, that Beta 2 of XP was diabolical for burning CD's on. Roxio 5 should work straight out of the box, as that is what is 'built-in' to XP itself.

I've had no problems with Nero 5.X or CDR-Win 3.8x. After I updated the ASPI drivers that is.

hi,
i've installed the ASPI update files and now burning with the build-in Roxio 5 is great, tnx.
Guess it depends on your CR Burner Version. I have the 8110i HP burner running on WinXP RC2. I couldnt use the softwware that came with it but the software on HP's website for Win2000 works. Its funny though, when I run the HP program (written by Veritas), my office2k installer starts loading, I have to cancel it like 4 time but then it works great. I can e-mail you that executable file if you like. [email protected] Dave Kessler
Over the weekend, I "upgraded" to XP corporate. No problems burning under Nero, Adaptec(roxio), WinonCD, CDRWin, NTI pro, Sony CDExtreme, or CloneCD. https://forums.windrivers.com/
