Hate to swat the hornet's nest, but...
Just make a copy of the CD and allow that person to use their key code to activate it.

I work at a small University in SE Wisconsin. We use Track-It 5.0 Standard Edition. With 10 people, it's slower than snot in February.
The enterprise edition is another $7800 - too much. We're...

Dell, definately.
Having worked at 10 contracts in the last 3 years, Dell gives the least amount of problems and when there are, they are the fastest to get parts from.

I carry 95 OSR2, 98SE, NT WS, ME, Norton Utilities 2002, Screwdriver with bit kit, "The Persuader" (hammer), and my crusty, trusty P120 laptop with 3c589 combo pigtail (10B2 & 10BT) and 56k modem.

Backup your registry.
Run Regedit and delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum and shutdown. Swap motherboard. Startup. Reload all drivers. Enjoy!...

Hmmm...
Given the hardware list, 98SE, followed by windowsupdate.microsoft.com, stay away from anything higher than IE 5.5 SP1, and either load Window Washer or the like or add these lines to...

Once again, Norton Ghost.
Been using it since before Peter Norton & Co bought it out. It's a wonderful product that I have used faithfully time and time again.

Hmmm...
An interesting topic indeed!
I keep a Ghost image of the base OS load for all of my machines. When I muck things up, it's only a few hours until the machine is back to where it is.
