Maybe they need converted to MPEG first (i think thats the format a VCD uses). I use WinAVI for that.

Was gonna suggest partition magic, ive had this problem in the past. I think its down to windows not recognising the EXT2/3 format that linux uses, but partition magic can. Glad ya got it sorted
