Two different servers, two different NIC's - actually, 4 different NIC's between the two servers.
it's not a problem with the nic.

NICs are there when SP1 is applied, but the system is not promoted to a DC.

Everything starts working again once SP1 is uninstalled though.

Both servers that I have done this with (haven't done it with others yet) - have different NIC's - both are 3com. I know one is a 905BTX - I don't remember the other at the moment.
The thing is,...

Submitted a ticket with MS. It'll be interesting to find out what's causing this issue...
During the ticket creation (via email), I went through and wiped the system, reloaded 2003, promoted it,...

Seems there's a utility that you can use to review the .dmp files that come out of a BSOD. I've used it on non-BSOD's (user.dmp) with a little success. I know what's causing it, though, I don't know...

I think the NIC is fine - drivers for these nics are part of Server 2003 drivers.
I've tried this with two different servers with different hardware configurations. Same result.
Got any...

Basically what it looks like, is that SP1 prevents a lot of things from happening.
I found the Machine Account for the new DC disabled, no connections in Sites and Services to the other two DC's,...

Hmm - nope - I have to uninstall the Service Pack first, otherwise, I have to use that odd thing called "paper"...
I've got another server loading in my office, so if it repeats itself, I can at...

I've done it both ways...
Same result. Seems like the 3rd reboot after promo-reboot, it drops the network connections, and won't replicate.
I'll see if I can post the errors in the log...

So far, I've had zero luck with this, but again I'm trying this out to make sure I haven't missed something.
Clean install of Server 2003.
Apply SP1
Promote to DC (added to our 2000 Domain)...

I'm working with Exchange 2000, in which, I am using the SMTP Virtual Server's "Deny Access" to block IP addresses which send spam, and to block countries who would have no other interest in what our...

Nothing in regards to networking. Even so, it's been several months since my last round of service-packing and hotfixes.
I think I won;t worry about it - before July, we intend to go to W2K3 +...

Still no luck. I even bumped the DHCP Reservation for the printer to another IP (192.168.1.201=>192.168.1.202) address, and I still can't ping it from Server "A"...

I've got two systems, well actually, about 90 some systems..
All of which are on a local lan, with no routing or firewalls between them.
Server "A" (IP:192.168.1.2) can ping 192.168.1.200 just...

I would stick to SCSI, since it offloads the CPU from having to interact with the disks, and you cna get more bandwidth out of a SCSI bus, than with a SATA bus.
From a drive perspective, there is...

I love thier comparison - they list out the features, run a couple of mock tests and time them, and give ratings. The only difference with features of the maxtor Diamond Max 9 Plus, and the Western...

For Uber performance - I go SCSI - but since I have only one PCI slot, which is used by my M-Audio Delta 44, SCSI isn;t an option, and neither is using an extra card.
Also, DDR on a PCI device...
