ok.. found drivers at www.gvc.ca (DUH!) and just installed them. It's on COM4 with IRQ 5 and address 1100. This is really starting to bother me because it's a brand new modem!

Have you checked the BIOS version and tried flashing to the newest version?

Funny how this got posted today. I had a lack of IRQs yesterday on a laptop I was working on. My fix ended up being a registry addition.
Make sure all drivers are updated (as has been mentioned)...

For IBM ThinkPads 600E (and probably all other ThinkPads) do a cold boot and hold the F1 key down. It will take you into the BIOS.
