Hello again everybody!
I just upgraded recently from a socket A, nForce2-based motherboard to a dual-core system with a Via K8T800 chipset. I transferred my GeForce 7800 GS video card over to the...

ninja_of(daroms), did you delete the ATi drivers or uninstall them?
You could try installing Driver Cleaner Pro, uninstalling both the ATi & SiS drivers, boot into safe mode and use Driver Cleaner...

Sorry NooNoo, coming from you, the term "long learning curves" made my mind wander a bit.

It sounds like your onboard sound is unreliable, or you have the wrong driver installed.
If you're going to try a PCI soundcard (which is a better choice), you will need to uninstall the drivers...

If Benq has a firmware update for that drive, you might try installing that. I had an old Acer CD-RW that I thought was dead and updating the firmware brought it back to life.
No guarantee, but it...

Sorry for the slow response, I've been busy with work and other things.
I'm just going to live with the drive as it is. The external DVD works fine for ripping and I use the set-top box for...

This is how it was "out of the box". I've also been told that it's not actually "region free", the region code just hasn't been set yet (nor can it be, apparently). I'm still waiting to hear from...

PowerDVD and DVDShrink both refuse to open the disc until a region is set on the drive. DVD Decrypter will open the disc, but has to use "brute force" method to crack the CSS. This causes errors and...

Mainly PowerDVD; but also, dare I say it?..., DVD Decrypter.
For now I'm using an external drive, it does the job minus the benefit of the ATA-100 interface.
Hopefully Asus tech support will come...

NooNoo: Yes, that was the first thing I tried. I received the drive with firmware v1.01, when I couldn't set the region code, I updated to v1.10 (the latest available). Unfortunately, it didn't make...

I get the same error message in safe mode.
I'm going to try e-mailing Asus' technical support. From their website, it looks...

It's Win XP Pro SP2, I haven't tried safe mode yet, I'll give it a go tonight.
Mine is the only account, so I have admin rights all the time (not a "best practice", I know).
I'll...

Hi All!
I know it's been a while since I posted. This one's got me stumped.
I just picked up an Asus DVD-E616A3 from Newegg (for the ATA-100 interface) and found that a few programs on my...

It appears that the PSU fan speed sensor lead was the problem. Once that was unplugged from the motherboard, the system booted and ran successfully every time.
My friend will be sending that...
