I had a machine that booted fine, but had a lot of spyware and virus. After removal, the machine would boot to the desktop wallpaper, but no further. Opening task manager and trying to run explorer...

If all you want to do is share the Internet with the mac, it will work. Just set the mac to DHCP. The 98 machine running ICS will issue an IP. If you want to share files, that’s beyond me. Not a mac...
