Maybe, but all the same we are dealing with a vulnerability limited to specific manufacturers, and flaws in their Secure Boot implementation. Of course, that's going to involve large numbers of...

Thanks for the link to dcjt's other thread. I missed it. I'm not here very often these days, and I tend to ignore your posts, so thanks for the heads up.

Typically, the scans need to be set up to be delivered to a shared folder with read/write privileges. Normally, that's in the format \\computer name\folder name
I can't see why this wouldn't work....

Just imagine. An improper implementation of a standard having a vulnerability. Yet another good reason to patronize a local system builder.

Actually, the problem with slow connection speed on a dialup connection has less to do with how many switches, etc. you have to go through than the fact that dialup is limited to 56kbps tops. And...

Sorry, terryL and lindamartin123, but times have changed. Manipulating meta tags and the like may actually get you banned from Google search results these days. Just so you don't feel sad, I'm giving...

One of the Logitech's I own has a little compartment on the underside that opens like a battery compartment and has space for the weights. Mine uses short, cylindrical slugs, but it's the same...

I'll go with a driver issue, since Konica doesn't actually list a Win7 driver for the device. I've had instances with some newer HP LaserJets, where I obtained a driver through Windows Update,...

Zonie and I did a classic cross post there. But since we both agreed, it wasn't too embarrassing. Anyway, I've done some of my most imaginative and creative posts at 3 A.M. No worries.

Of course, ionamartin123 has asked a similar question over in this thread, so I think I've already said enough about reputation based blocking.
Hacked websites account for a very high percentage...

I think you need ADI's SoundMAX drivers for that system, but since this is off the cuff, I could be wrong. Regardless of brand, most of these sources should work. Goes without saying that you should...

Take a close look at your charger. Chances are excellent that the cable is detachable, and has a standard USB connector. Between wife and kids, we have four Samsung phones, and they all have a...

Of course, an even better question is "If SmartScreen is so effective, why am I removing so much malware from Win7 computers running IE 9 & 10, and Win8 machines?" And, I'm not talking about obscure...

Hello, ionamartin123, you really need to take some of the stuff you read about IE 10 and Win8 with a shaker full of salt. As in any tests that use IE's reputation system. Reputation systems are easy...

Don't sweat it. This is just another example of some s##thook security company looking for a cheap headline to promote their business. It's no different from Matusek's crappy firewall tests. Take a...

Yep, all my contact info is current, so it's not like I'm in the Batcave. But no, we don't get promoted much. And as I've said before I think support forums are a dying breed. The same questions are...

You may find that a system restore won't function depending on the nasties you have on the computer. Many pieces of malware insert themselves in to the System Restore files, and simply reappear. If...

Sometimes pulling the power battery for the system for a minute or so brings it back to life after the battery is reinstalled, and sometimes leaving it out and running on the AC adapter works. But I...

It seems to me that most of the models in HP's DV series have been dogs. And in many models, MOBOS have been a major failure point. So, I'm not sure that replacing the board with another...

I'm thinking that essentially rebuilding the computer a part at a time doesn't really have much appeal as a solution. Personally, I'd feel pretty secure in saying that if the system won't boot Linux...

I doubt that it is reliable, so I'd try booting from the Linux distro of your choice and see what happens.

It's an interesting study, but it's really only half done at best. IE 10 on Windows 8 is really a very specific case. Even NSS Labs states that Win7 and IE 9 might not perform as well. It would have...

Another point in favor of Office 2010, is that the licensing is less restrictive than 2013. Microsoft now lets you transfer the software to a new computer or a different computer, but only once in 90...
