Just got a pair of PII 400 Xeons, and looking to build...any ideas on best boards for a Server, using these CPUs? Also, what are the power requirements for the Xeons? Any advice will be gratefully...

I do on-site work for selected customers only, and the rate varies in direct proportion to my perceived "pain-in-the-***" factor, in relation to the individual...normally $35/hr for the average...

I have to agree with MSN...cooling is crucial, and the Athlons aren't nearly as forgiving as the K6-2 and 3 processors were. As for boards, I now have aa Athlon 800 and a 750 running...one on an Epox...

Part of the problem is the MoBo...I have yet to find a FIC ss7 that works worth a d#$n...Soyos are not much better. Sounds like the board barfs on K6-2 450's...try running the processor slower (400)...

For the VID issues, try the VIA site for latest and greatest drivers...try the 4-in-1 (I believe 4.23 is the latest...). As for the Aureal card issues, go to the windrivers driver search and check...

I agree with lysergic...the only solution for these board issues (short of scrapping the idea and going with something else) is patience, time and caffiene...what issues in particular, are devilling...

I agree that the Epox c2 is a fine board...the heat issue is the most prpoblem I've seen so far...less expensive than the Asus boards, I'd have to reccomend it and it's ATX brother...USB performs...
