Are you using a ".CMD" file or a ".BAT"? It needs to be a ".CMD".

Unfortunately/fortunetly, his MB does not support USB 2.0, unless he has an add-on PCI card. So, he is OK there.

Try removing the driver then using DirverCleaner to hopefully clean up all the settings of the driver from the registry and INF files. Then re-install the driver.

Sounds like a bad BIOS flash to me. If it is you need to have another machine with the same kind of BIOS chip to do a "hot flash" (as long as the BIOS chip is removable).
You could try resetting...

Partially true but remember that companies define a byte as 1000 not 1024 when quoting space on their drives, so, a 250MB drive is really only a ~244MB drive. Its the similar thing with CRT monitors...
