do you have the restore cds? typicaly emach uses ghost. you could open the cd with ghost explorer and get them from there

it is an HP 500mhz cel. It has IE 6 on it.
havent checked sound... only has AIM and NAV at startup.
Am I wrong to think that the error is with Explorer.exe only? I havent tried IE or anything...

winsock typically affects all accounts.

I think it was just a corrupted driver.. I went in to safe mode and laid waste to the drivers, reinstalled a freshly DL one.. working ok

Sounds like he has the new Klipsch speakes. Maximum PC rated them poorly because of not having a analog option.
Unfortunatley he'll have to get a sound card that supports digital out.
