sounds like a corrupt profile. if there is another profile you can log in with such as administrator do so. if a desktop shows up find the profile you've been logging in under and delete it. restart...

try swapping the cpu or check to make sure the correct cpu is being detected, not just type but core voltage, etc...

you can use the same license key for all your machines. So if you already have a license key for an existing w2k machine you can use that. as long as you have one license per machine your covered.
