Sometimes if your lucky it will list the file that is causing the error... try to figure out what that file belongs to and try to get and updated version or re-install it.

Please Explorer.exe can make WINME crash... LOL. You can try installing Windows Me Over it self... or format and start from scratch.

Judge,
When I went to install Windows XP it got all the way to the end except the last boot of Windows It just went to a black screen and locked up. All I had to do was boot into Safe Mode...

What Vid Card Are You Running? If ATI Radeon Download the new drivers from ATI and boot into safe mode to install. The radeon drivers that came with Windows XP are messssssssssed up!!!!

Did you try windows update? They put an update on there for cd burning. Also just to note the Native CD-Writing is based on ROXIO software which bought the rights to the software from Adaptec...

That is why I use <a href="http://www.crucial.com" target="_blank">www.crucial.com</a> to get my memmory it tell you what chips you need for the specific brand and model of motherboard.

I think Microsoft should put "comapatablilty modes" in Windows ME. Like they did with Windows 2000 SP2 and Windows XP..

Try New Video Drivers, a new version of DirectX... or reinstalling the version you have... also look for new sound drivers.

The only advantage to Windows XP over W2K is program compatablilty! That is an advantage for Home Users but not really to businesses.

Actually I think the problem is that Windows ME and Windows 2000 both use "program files" to dump all that stuff in. Windows 2000's Version probably overwrote WINDOWS ME's version. Try downloading...

SFC is no longer part of windows... you can restore the file through the system configuration utility. There is a button thats says extract on the first tab.
