You might want to ditch McAfee and try a real AV solution here is a free one: AVG
It might be a good idea to go with AVG, as McAfee is (almost) worthless once your machine is actually infected....

What is the "something" that happened? Did you shut down the machine prior to the BIOS update loading all the way? I would try to pull the jumper and reset the CMOS, either that or pull the battery...

You actually want this to run? I would recommend running it manually after the bad shutdown if you really want to. Better yet, upgrade to Win2K or XP. You will probably have better luck with NTFS...
