When you loaded Win2000 and XP, did you upgrade or do a clean install?

ASUS all the way. A7M if you are good with configuring mobos (its a picky one), but the better choice would be either the A7V or A7V-e.
The A7V is in your price range.

Go to www.promise.com and upload the drivers. If you have a motherboard manual, check to see which version you have. It should be one that deals...

I've heard more bad than good about it. The good is the speed, the bad is that it could be a lot more stable.

It may be your power supply. Check the BIOS readings. If any voltage goes +/- .5V, the pc will shutdown. Any readings beyond .35V may have problems in games when the vid card and cpu are at...

I've got 2 side intake fans, 1 exhaust and a dual fan power supply. My pc has not even hit 105oF. If I keep the window open it doesn't hit 100oF even when its loaded. I didn't even use Artic...

You could click file - send to - MS Word, then use the save options to set a password to modify. Its read only unless some one has the password.

Its sounds like the uninstall/install of the OS wasn't clean. Its still searching for an OS that isn't there. Why did you install WinMe on a pentium?

All new mobos run off of a 100Mhz or 133Mhz bus. The difference from the old is that AMDs are double pumped. That's where they get the 200/266MHz mobos. Intel only uses the 100MHz bus to get the...

The GTS card. Its specs are far better than the MX. Of course I can't access nvidia's site to prove it.

Surge protectors are good to have. Does the monitor seem to shutoff when it locks? If not then it probably didn't affect the power supply. Might be the motherboard or the video card.

I guess you mean the 32MB 2MX? The card sucks for games. Did you check to make sure you installed the right files since you are using ME? Damn, can't remember the link now..

Weird. The only 'fiber' pc I've heard was the use of light in a cpu, but it is not close to having a design that will work.

What OS are you using? Win95 will cause lock-ups even if you just let windows load and do nothing else. Win98 shouldn't give you the problem that often, Me and Win2K should be more stable. Also...
