Still freezes when it recognizes the card.

Uninstalling doesn't mess up the registry.
I like the program Killbox to shut down programs that Task Manager won't let you. Google for it, it's free and a small download.

start - settings - control panel - add/remove programs - uninstall AVG
remove its programs folder if it's still there, baleet it from the registry... should there be any more problems?
