Thanks for the replies, I have already made a boot disk to access the cd rom from dos but would that access a Hard drive ?
If not where would I get a harddrive driver ?

I have external freecom parralel CD rom drive which is perfect when you see a machine with a knackered cd rom or a laptop where they've lost it !

Sounds to me like your trying to copy an audio CD in data mode, Not Audio. All your copying are the shortcuts to the tracks.
Mind you, if your looking at the cd in a drive window, the tracks only...

Has DMA been enabled on your cd roms in device manger. Go in, double click youe cd rom drive, choose settings and see if the DMA box is ticked. if it is, untick and re-boot.
