Agree with Higg. Most firewalls prevent you from pinging, tracert etc..etc..
There are third party applications available which allow this access through firewalls .. eg. sockscap32.

If you go to the 'Command Prompt' and type 'ntbackup /?' it will give you a list of available options.
/a says it will apend to a backup set already on the tape and not overwrite it.

If it's an OPTI chipset 16 bit sound card you will need a driver from there site which RESETS the Plug and Play card every boot. A known problem with some of the cards which baffled me for a while.

As far as I remember, all drive overlay programs 'destroy' any existing data and it does warn you of this before proceeding with the final initialization.

You said it was 'New'. Didn't it come with drivers for DOS. Most do. If not you should be able to download them if it's a Creative SoundBlaster. You will need to find the model number off the card .....
