I don't know of any isa to pci converters. But you don't need to buy new cards, you need to change your motherboard - a lot cheeper and better solution.

Sounds like a bad mouse port - what are you using? (ps2 or serial). If it is a ps2 mouse try using a serial mouse. If you are using a serial mouse, change the second com port and see if the problem...

Yes, the main problem I'm haveing is the *** plug & play CPU - without that feature no CPU is recognized, thus no boot.

You said he formated then fdisk(ed) the hard drive. You need to format it again after fdisk or you will continue to get this error.

I would try rebooting to dos, use deltree to delete the directory. Reboot to windows and let IE recreate the directory. (Sounds to me like it might be a fat error.)
