Hmm, would buying a new system board work? I see a few on eBay going for $15, obviously they are specifically for this laptop...I am guessing the EEPROM which contains the supervisor password is...

I can assure you this laptop is not stolen, at least not that I know of :p one of my friends dug it up in his closet and could never get the PW lock out so he said if I can fix it it's mine...so here...

It's the IBM supervisor password...I tried the method to clear the power on password, didnt work...
Looks like I'll chalk this one up as a loss :( wonder if the HDD is still good though.

OK, I got a free IBM Thinkpad 570, with one condition: I can't power it on!! :p
It prompts me for a password when I go into the BIOS and when I try to start it. I have no idea if it has a disk...

Anyway, if anyone really cares 3 years later, I got an Audigy, and upgraded to an Audigy 2 ZS a little while ago. The ZS plus Klipsch speakers sounds great :thumbs:

Archangel...have you tried a spare AGP or PCI video card? Perhaps the mobo's onboard video unit is defective? I've seen it happen.
I'm definitely thinking along the lines of the mobo-- the PSU...

If you use quality tubing (Tygon or Clearflex), some hose clamps, and a copper or aluminum top waterblock (Avoid lucite top! known to leak), you should not have any problems. Also, inline...

Looks like a gimmick to me. Never heard anything great about it.
Grab a Thermalright SK-7 with a good 80mm fan, or maybe a Coolermaster HAC-V81. You won't be disappointed, and both solutions...

Well, I just so happen to have a Ti4200 128MB by BFG (same idea as Asus or MSI, 4ns memory, etc) and a 9500 Pro 128MB.
So just out of curiosity I put both of them in the same machine and ran a few...

Yeah, it's going to be years before we start seeing DVD-burners as standard. Unless blue laser is just like double-sided CDRW, or those discs that hold 100GB of data supposedly. :rolleyes:
