With the current fibre technology that i know of, I do not think it is possible, the computer would be massive because with current technology, the fibres would not fit. if they shrank it however...

disconnect the IDE cable and try to open it manually, if the problem persists then replace the drive. If not, it is most likely in windows, probably low on reosources.
