IF your using single writing Media that excepts that speed it should work be sure the Media Disk accept x32
If you use CD rewiter disks even if there x32 its been my experiance that the rewriter...

Have you done anything different like using CDR or CDRW
CDRW's usually record as slower speeds, CDR usually ok long as you buy CDR's that accept higher speeds.

Take it has a Cd Rom also or just DVD as original slave?
If it have a CD Rom also you might try putting the CD ROM as the slave on the Writer and the DVD as Slave on HD give that a try

Question when you installed the new drive did you make sure the jumpers were set correctly? usually you set the writer as Master, CD as slave, and the cables are connected correctly?

Its possible during cleaning that you may have knocked some of the jumpers off like maybe the CMOS jumper.
Also check that all the cables etc are plugged in snug.

Ruslan, I agree a pic would be nice the BX440 chipset is on so many boards arrrg.

If your able to get it to power up now go into bios and make sure the floppy is enabled and connected ok, then download CTBIOS to a bootable floppy that will show who made the board.
