I ended up locking down the \All Users\Desktop folder with "properties", Security", "advanced, "edit" and checked the Deny box for "Delete Subfolders and files" & "delete" for the security users.

Does someone know how to lock down desktop icons in XP so that users cannot delete the shortcuts. I am looking for a reg hack as opposed to a software solution as its a corporate environment...
