I had that problem with XP when I had RAM problems. I was using High Density RAM and the motherboard didn't like it, so that error would ocassionally pop up.

I figured it out. It seems it was the StyleXP. I used the Windows Classic Theme and it all worked fine. But when I used a StyleXP theme that error started popping up like crazy.

What protocols are you using? And what order are they binded in?

What kind of setup do you have? Does the motherboard have onboard video? If it does, it's possible that those 8MB are reserved for your video card.

fdisk /mbr did the trick. I'm back in familiar Microsoft territories but now I can't access Linux. I'll have to play with it tomorrow.
