I downloaded sp2 directly to the laptop. I also made a CDROM copy on my brand new Compaq PC and ran it in the laptop. Now I get a "file corrupted" message. This is for the sp2 Pro program.

Thanks, SL. The thing I run into, and I tried 4 times, is during the sp2 pro install it fails, telling me "cannot reach the server". Wotta pain! :devil:

Again, the service pack 2 is available for IT pros and developers, I need sp2 for home which Im still searching for!

Yes, thanks, it was fresh install of the original OS from 2002. Updates from MS wont work until I get to service pack 3..kind of self-defeating! :eek:

Wifey bought it new back in 2003 or so, I reinstalled the OS from Toshiba to reformatt the HD. I did put Firefox browser in and works fine. Need sp2&3 to make the USB wireless card work. It only has...

BTW MS has the Network version of SP2. It tells us to go to the Update page for the Express version, but its never there! Sux! :eek:

Im trying to upgrade an old Toshiba laptop to xp sp 2 and 3, but whatever I dl from MS or here comes up as "files corrupted" or "cannot reach server".
