I am pretty sure it is unshielded. The Cat5e has just the mylar jacket and the nylon string in the middle. I haven't looked at the coax but I'm guessing it is unshielded as well.

Since it is a slot a-I'm touching the other side on the plastic housing. I thought the case speaker was the speaker for the Bios beeps as well, but wasn't sure...a dumb comment, I know.

This may be stupid.......what is HSF? Second, I'm sure I plugged the CPU fan to the mobo, and I don't think it was the chassis fan but I will check. What should the fan settings be in the Bios? Noise...

Thanks for writing everyone. The MOBO is not proprietary--just manufactured by Intel. It has a 100MHZ bus. If the MOBO is jumperless am I dead in the water? Sounds like it could work if I set the CPU...

I went to the microsoft site and they told me to rename wab32.dll to wab32.old and reinstall internet explorer (outlook express) and it worked. Thanks for your help.
