? - Are you planning on formatting the Laptop's Hard Drive? If so follow these instructions.
---THIS WILL DESTROY ALL DATA ON YOUR HARD DRIVE - BE SURE TO BACK IT UP.-------
---I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OF DATA OR HARDWARE FUNCTIONALITY----
1. Insert the Floppy drive. Boot using the Win98 boot disk. fdisk and prepare the partitions. Restart. Format the c: drive the following way "format c: /s /autotest" this will copy the system files to the c: drive and make it bootable, as well as not prompt you for volume names. Copy the contents of the floppy disk to the hard drive. Edit the config.sys and autoexec.bat files to reflect the drive change (ie. change a: to c . Restart.
2. Instert the CD-rom drive and the 98se cd. Boot. If step one was completed correctly your cd-rom driver should load correctly and assign the next avail drive letter (d . Create a directory on the hard drive called "win98" copy the files from the Win98 directory on the 98 cd to the c:\win98 directory. change to the c:\win98 directory and run setup.
3. This should install Win98 from the hard drive (faster and no cd-rom needed after this point.) And - if you leave this directory with the Win98 CAB files every time 98 needs a file from the cd it will look on your hard drive.
Good Luck - if you have problems let me know.
