everything else is 98..... i am using net buei and i heard that xp has no net buei......

on my 98 machines i have to logon to the 2k box by typing administrator pass= admin..... to get into it..... that is fine and all works well...... well on the xp box i logon as the exact same and i still cant see the 2k box..... not sure if i need to change something in the 2k box or the xp box...... any help would be appreciated..... thanks in advance

Let me get this straight, you're sharing an internet connection with only netbeui? That's an amazing feat, lemme tell ya!

I'm assuming that you have tcp/ip installed and working, standard questions are:

Are all the workgroup names the same?
Can you ping the box from the other computers?
Can you directly connect to a share on the box?

Thats just a starting point for you...

Are all the workgroup names the same? ....yes
Can you ping the box from the other computers? yes
Can you directly connect to a share on the box?
    no.

the xp box can be seen from every computer except for the win2k machine...

every other machine can see the xp box.
i think the problem may lie with my limited experience of the 2000/xp networking section....

Nah he's right.I thought it was because of sp2 on the 2k machine.I didn't get to into it,basically cause I was excited that MS sent me another product code,so that I was able to get xp on the machine running 2k.MS dosen't "support" net buei. However you'll find it on the cd under cd:\valueadd\msft\net.

Make sure you have the internet connection firewall turned off in the local area connection properties advanced tab.
