WinXP Pro News server?
HHHmmm....Call me crazy, and I would tend to agree with you...I want/need to run WinXP Pro with a News Server...I can't figure it out. Does XP HAVE a News server option?

Um...not sure if this is exactly what you meant.....but Outlook Express 6, which comes standard with XP allows you to set up a news server.....

should have been clearer in my post... OE is a news CLIENT. I need to set up a news SERVER for people to post to like you can in 2000.....do I have my terminology wrong?

XP will do absolutely everything that 2000 can and more. So I hope that answers your question.

here we go again....
in winXP professional, we cannot find any reference to running a NEWS SERVER as a service....in win2k professional NEWS SERVER runs as a service.....hello? How in the @^@&$*^% do you set up XP PRO to run a news SERVER SERVICE??

Don't you set that up in IIS? FYI, XP doesn't install IIS automatically. You have to go the the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Add Windows Components and then choose IIS Services.

Good point on installing IIS as XP does not install it by default. However....installing IIS does not give me the news server service....HELP!!!????
