If you are talking about the 686B Southbridge (ATA100) then installing the VIA drivers will slow down the transfers (happens on every system that has had them installed and I have had clients call me asking why their 'big brand' system has slowed down after installing these drivers). Wait until XP is actually released to Retail and then VIA will make new drivers for XP. The XP defaults are more than fine. If you are on about the ATA100 seperate controller (if your board has one) then you don't need to worry about teh VIA drivers neither as these are controlled by either Highpoint or Promise, depending on chipset used to control them.
