Geezer
Well I can't help with any of those numbers either ... dell part numbers are generally 5 digits & with a bar code so as you say not them ... mmm but 'soldered on' - won't I think have that, so I don't think any of the numbers are dell bits ... But you think the displays an hitachi one anyway?, but I dunno about them !
Can you furnish us with an image ? .. maybe...
Stumped!

The inverter's for dell's are dell specific. No other laptop uses them. If you have the unit's service numbers (I need both the service tag and the other one) I can try and look up a part number for you. Dell often packs the inverter as part of an "LCD maint kit"

Well I assumed the 'beast' in question was out of warranty ! but seems not ... Could he not return the entire unit then ? (not impuning Hippie_Tech's ability but he did mention soldering ! surley this is best done by a dell 'repairer' then he's covered still ...?)

I feel stupid now. When the client brought it in, the first thing we asked was whether or not the unit was under warranty. He said "no, I only had a one year warranty". I took him for his word and never thought to check if it was still in warranty. He'll be getting a call with his options (sending it in for repair). Never again will I take a client's word for warranty. The last thing I need is someone coming in for a repair, bill them, and then get an angry phone call from the customer asking us why they were charged for something that was under warranty. I'm re-assembling and giving it back to the client. Thanks everyone.
