NooNoo contacted me to call my attention to the fact that a technician posted a reply saying TigerSurplus is not part of TigerDirect. The reason I thought they were part of Tiger Direct is because TigerSurplus used to be called Package2u and had a url of http://66.216.68.88/index.html Then about 2 years ago(?) they changed their name to TigerSurplus. I seem to remember also reading something on the TigerDirect site at the time talking about their new surplus division. I certainly may have been mistaken about this. I have looked at the TigerDirect site and see no mention of TigerSurplus.
I will take the technicicans claim at face value. However, on the TigerSurplus site when you click About Us this is what it says:
"TigerSurplus is located in the small rural town of Grand Saline, Texas with 4 downtown warehouses & over 100 different items In Stock to choose from at prices far below retail. We have built relations with manufactures to bring you tremendous savings on name brand items. In addition, many of the items we offer are from companies, businesses and Manufactures that have went out of business bringing the savings home to you in a business-to-consumer e-commerce format.
We add items daily so please keep us bookmarked"
So on their site they don't say they are, or aren't affiliated with TigerDirect. At the least you have to wonder if they used the name TigerSurplus to captilize on the name recognition of TigerDirect.
I also wonder (being the skeptic I am) why the technician words it:
"We have NEVER bought or sold ANYTHING from www.tigerdirect.com and we are DEFINATELY not Tiger Directs Wholesale site."
Since on their site they do buy from many companies, businesses and Manufactures are they saying they never buy from other retailers overstocked or discontinued items? I was once informed by Compgeeks a similiar site that they often do buy such items. So by saying they don't buy from the url www.tigerdirect.com the same way you or I do they leave open the fact they may still buy from the tigerdirect company in a company to company transaction. This is complete speculation on my part.
I would like to say I have never had a problem buying from TigerSurplus. However, I would challenge them to state plainly on their site that they are not affiliated with Tigerdirect. Otherwise I have an issue with their name being misleading.

Hello there,
Thank you for replying back.
I can explain why we are no longer www.package2you.com. I've been with the company for 3 years now, the reason we are no longer package2you is not because we wanted to 'change' our domain name, matter of fact if we could get it back we would gladly. The simple truth of the matter is this, we have two owners, Tony Welch and Denonda Adams, Mr. Welch handles all purchases for our company, being one of the owners he also handles the webhosting for our website along with our domain. Mr. Welch simply did not renew his domain lease after it had expired and evidently didn't receive a email from his registrar when it was about to expire, thus one day out of the blue it was 'gone'. During this time we of course were totally shocked because we lost all of our customers for the fact most of them didn't know our IP address. During this period Mr. Welch immediatly contacted our domain registrar in which they told us the domain name had in fact expired, and on top of that in a matter of 24 hours it was hijacked by some asia company in which they wanted a LARGE amount of money to give it back to us, we wouldn't meet there price thus we had to come up with a name quick as we were losing our customers by the hour because they couldn't get to our website.
Mr. Welch and Mrs. Adams then overnight sat down and come up with www.tigersurplus.com, believe me we have gotten a few emails in the past (although rarely now) asking if we were actually www.tigerdirect.com or part of them. I will say this again, we are NOT any shape or form part of www.tigerdirect.com, I will also say as I stated we have never purchased, sold, ect from www.tigerdirect.com.
Speculating is one thing, coming on a forum and clearly stating we ARE part of a company that this forum clearly doesn't like or has bad dealings with is another thing, by making that statement you lead others to believe we are in fact part of TigerDirect in which I do feel I have to defend my companies name as that statement is 100% false.
I am not sure what more I can say to prove my claim, however if you seriously look at where we are (town is population of 2500), we are locally owned by the two people mentioned above in which you can call and reach anyone of us at our office Monday through Friday 8-5 central time I or the owners would be more than happy to discuss this further.

Thank you for clearing some things up. I really seemed to remember reading you were part of Tigerdirect or else I wouldn't have said it. For that I apologize.
As to this forum clearly doesn't like or has bad dealings(referring to tigerdirect) I note this thread has negative things to say about tiger directs rebates but I might not agree this forum clearly has had bad feelings or doesn't like tigerdirect. I have seen posts saying they were good. And it is the opinion of that particular poster that might have bad feelings not the entire forum.
As to the numerous emails you used to get and the some that are continuing asking you if you are part of TigerDirect I note that you could easily state on your website you are not part of tigerdirect. For that I still think my criticism is valid.
I also call to everyones attention that my company has purchased from you on occasion and my experiences have been uniformly positive. I would buy from you again
