Dual Layer DVD Burner?
I have been using a single sided 2x Compaq DVD burner that I took out of my old Compaq PC and put in an external USB enclosure so I could use it on different PC's.
Thinking about upgrading to a Dual Layer External and looking for some suggestions on which brand you might have bought and like.
Don't know if it is really worth it since I only use it to record data and music not video, but we all like new toys!

In my experience, LG, LiteOn, Samsung, make quite good quality drives.

Keep 3 things in mind.
#1. Dual LAyer discs are extremely expensive right now
#2. They are very difficulyt to find in retail outlets.
#3. With the New blu-ray technology it might be better just to wait, instead of upgrading up to a dual-layer DVD-RW

If your drive hasn't failed yet then it's not worth it. As said, media is waaaaay too expensive, although the price of the drives has dropped (got mine for $60 including shipping).
