tmpgenc dvd-rw "drive not ready"
Hello and thx in advance for any help you can give me. I have been trying to get my DVD RW drive to work with tmpgenc dvd authoring. I have a 16x pioneer dvr 109, i have updated the firmware to v.1.05 and I still get the error message "drive is not ready". I have tried to use 2 types of dvd's phillips 4x RW, and princo 4x-r, I get the same message everytime. I use to also get the error message "internal error: fatal dvd driver", but it seems that error message doesnt show anymore after i did the update or so i think.
This problem happens everytime i try to output the vob files to the disk. If anyone can help me with this i'd appreciate it I have been stuck with this problem for 3 days now.
also just a note When i use dvd shrink the dvd-Rw works fine....i really need the tmpgenc dvd author (dvd writer) to work.
Thx you Buc

If it works with dvd shrink then tmpgenc is the problem... have you been to the site to check for updates and patches?

oh no never even thought of that i just thouight it was the dvd writer. That was the thing also I just bought bought the drive and couldnt understand what was going on at all. So you think its the tmpgnc dvd authoring tool and the tmpgnc writer. Ok i'll have to try that tonight.
THX

Can you conclude that ? I don't think you can ..
All these bits of writing software introduce their own drivers, or more correctly a filter class each & they are forever conflicting with each other
What's doing the burning bit for dvdshrink ? (that just does the re-encoding bit & then passes the burning bit to some other program) - Nero ? Something else ? But I'm assuming you must have at least one other writing type product.
The general 'fix all' advice is to uninstall every single burning type application & then check with something like This very handy utility that they are all gone. (you can look now & see if you have any dupliactes as that's often an issue) & here you say ..
..also I just bought bought the drive ..
.. meaning it replaced another ? & you had burning software already present ? (any kind of burning s/w even for a CDR) .. if so defiinately take it all off & then add back one at a time, testing as you go.

Thx for all the info I think you may be right.
I have uninstalled tmpgenc dvd author and tonight i will reinstall it to see any change. Also I made a mis-statement givine you the impression of a new drive in a old PC. Actually its a brand new pc so at least i wont have to worry about old drivers on the dvd burner.
Any other suggestions that may help..... i wouldnt mind.

yes indeed clearing the olb files and downloading the new tmpgenc 1.6 really helped with drive. As for the dvd+rw i was using i think its just not going to work with this program. I was using a phillips i-4x dvd+rw i guess this was the wrong dvd to buy not sure what the i stands for but it must be making disk incompatable.
Thanks for help with this I was stuck for a long time. Now only if I could get the tmpgenc dvd author 1.6 for free that would be great...lol but i guess no one would give that sn# away...lol

not sure but i deleted everything so you think i can put the 1.5 registration code and 1.6 will work. Remember i deleted everything then i just downloaded the 1.6 didnt even try to load the 1.5 again.

I'm not sure if your problem isn't firmware related or not but Pioneer has a firmware upgrade to v 1.09, on their web site they strongly suggest all users of the dvr 109 upgrade. Here is the link http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/product-...html#firmware1
I have read on different forms that there is software not yet updated to use the drive properly, maybe you could contact the software vendor to see if the drive is suppodrted.

Install 1.5 with the licence then get the update download for 1.6 and run it.
