rage 128 pro in black and white
I have a customer bring me a computer that is having troubles with Black and White. It starts ok, goes through the Lion Head Studios Logo (white background), then to the Black and White Logo (black background) and then it has problems. With the ati 128 pro it has fatal exception errors (blue screen) and sometimes dumps to the desktop (wierd part is the mouse is invisible and the keyboard is frozen at this point). I've tried a GeForce 2 MX-400 and it did all the same except for the fatal exceptions, where it would go to a black screen and have green lines across the top (approx 1/2 cm long).
Here are the specs.
Celeron 366
AB-ZM6 motherboard
ATI rage 128 pro (memory ?)
196 mb sdram
creative 8x cdrom
directx 7.0a
Things I've tried.
new cdrom (40x ASUS)
new video (asus v7100 mx-400 32mb)
most current ati drivers
reinstall game
update to directx 8.0
This guy has a plethera of games on here including decent 3, a flight sim, starcraft. I'm not sure if they are affecting b+w or if they indicate somehow that b+w should be able to play. Any help... Thanks

Every time I've seen a display with the vertical grren bars across the top that you are describing it was a hardware issue.
Since you said you replaced the Rage with a G-Force and still got the green bars. I'd suspect a bad Agp slot, or bridge chip.

Check the memory bad or mismatched can cause this..
if its 196meg than try the fastest stick closest to the chip.....

Try turning off all the unneeded programs in the startup file. Also, my son played this on a celeron 400 and the performance was marginal with many hangs. We upgraded to a P3 600 with great results. Also, there is a Black and White patch out there (sorry I don't have the url ) that fixes some problems in B&W. Good luck <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">
PS we run B+W with Directx 7.0
