    i have a gct-mgx rev 1.2 motherboard and i am wondering if someone out there has a manual on where the jumpers are to disable the onboard video card, and if so what are the positions?

    You may not need to do anything, just plug in a second card and the on-board might be disabled.

    Also if there are no jumpers on the board, you might be able to disable it in CMOS.

    well, no, there isnothing in the entire bios or cmos to disable it and when i install the new card and load the drivers for it and reboot to complete installation, i get the message "windows protection error, you must restrart your computer"

    What operating system are you running?
    What video card are you installing, AGP or PCI?
    Can you get the bios string from your motherboard?

    I should've mentioned that, when switching video adapters, you should first switch your video adapter settings to plain 'ole Standard VGA, restart Windows, shutdown, install your new video card, restart, then install your new video drivers. Otherwise, Windows may

    i have used win 98 win98se and winME and i get the same results for each, and since i do not have the drivers for the onboard i am using standard vga. oh and its a pci 8mb card...my thanks to anyone who can understand whats going on cause i sure dont

    I had a board like that once. What I did was to disable the onboard video card in device manager. It had a red x through it, but the machine worked fine afterwards.

    You probably have checked already but make sure You select PCI first in your bios. Should be something like Initialize PCI/AGP.
