Post How to reset CMOS to default?????

    Hi,

    I have ASUS A7V,Duron 800.
I want to reset all CMOS settings to default.

I changed some settings and now the PC won't boot, all I get is a black screen.

If I take the battery out and short the +&- in the holder, will that work?????

    Thank you.

taking battery out for a while will do it , or look near battery for jumper with 3pins move it across for a few seconds then back again .

on the A7A board (if u overclock it) if u repeatedly press insert key then when monitor kicks in - press delete , maybe same on your board?

You can do one of the following:

    1. Unplug the power supply cable and short the proper jumper on the motherboard. Most of the times this jumper is near the battery.
Or if you can't locate the jumper,
    2. Unplug the power supply cable, take the battery out and wait for a few minutes. Then put it back on. Some times, it may take from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours to clear the CMOS that way, so I'd suggest you use the jumper instead. If you can't find it look at the manual of the motherboard.

    Good luck!

manual from asus (3571598a7v104.pdf) shows clrtc jumper at the right hand side of the board next to the battery.

as this board is using the same bios as the a7a i would expect the "insert" key to work.

Yes,it works for me - it's much more faster way to clear CMOS than only taking out the battery, by the way.
And,of course, there should be jumper for clearing CMOS on PCB, (like many others have suggested) - refer to the manual for motherboard.

Changing jumper is the most effective way.
    Congratulations!
