Resolved [RESOLVED] system restarting on its own

my system keeps restarting on its own,
it only seems to happen if the machine has meen on for a long time (possibly an overheatin problem)

    mainboard s1 via 694x atx a VT6x4
    1x 256mb DIMM ecc pc100
    pIII 800eb 256k s1 133b
    3dfx voodoo 3 3000 pci
    Diamondmax+ 40 40.9 Gb udma100
    50x cd drive
    230w psu

    that's it, pretty bare system
I know that the prob is'nt ram related, as a friend has the same mainboard, same problem, but different ram

    ne1, please help!

Try a different power supply. Bad power supplies are often the cause of reboot problems, especially when the problem seems heat-related.

Dude, definitely sounds like an overheating problem. Maybe try keeping the case off for a while and see if the problem persists? If so, there's a plethera of ways to cool it down.

one other thing to try or keep in mine is that some new mb have hairline cracks in them and can become a problem upon heating in long "on" periods

when I have a random start up problem i remove the mb from case set it on a insulated substances and run it some time the mb screws can cause shorts too!

I see that you are using PC100 RAM with a 133FSB processor...double-check your RAM settings on the motherboard and make sure that you aren't accidently trying to overclock the RAM.
