    XMS error

I get this error when I try to load windows. I did a clean install of
    Win95 OSR2, and it returned!

ERROR: Himem.sys detected unreliable XMS memory at address 03b08406
    XMS Driver not installed

This error has occasionally resulted in this error:

ERROR: Not enough memory to load registry or registry is corrupt.

I figure that I have a disk error of some sort that is resulting in a
failure of the extended memory system.

Note: I have configured my extended memory to be a set size (Win386.swp = 512M min/max) and to reside on the first few sectors of the HD for efficiency reasons. I have turned off the 'Let Windows Manage Extended Memory' function (in the System control panel) to do this. Possible cause?

If you know what may cause this : Thanks in advance,
If not, thanks for taking the time to read -- just fishing for
    solutions...

Howdy, I have to go with Bub on this one. When Himem.sys finds a error it noramly means that you have a bum stick of memory.

    Hi Bub,
yep definately sounds like bad mem , to confirm that try swapping mem to diff slot, you should see the mem address for the fault mem change to a diff value ...
