[RESOLVED] Lock up on shut down
I have just installed Windows 98 on my PC [I was on 95].
When I shut down I get stuck on the "please wait while your computer shuts down" screen, and end up resorting to the off button.
Any ideas, anyone?

If you just installed 98, have you been to the Windows update page? There are a few updates for that very problem, however they have been known to cause other problems, like ghost buttons in the taskbar. Only install security updates, and the things you know you need...

hit ctrl alt del and remove one program at a time until it shuts down properly to see the problem application then reinstal or remove it.
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

Go to run/ msconfig, and disable fast shutdown feature. There is also a patch file for this from MS. If you want more info, leave me a message.
Would you like fries with that?

Thanks Guys
The download answer worked - Ctrl-Alt-Del just restarted the PC, Fast shutdown was already disabled..but download did the job.
Thanks everyone for your input!
