    Post HP Pavilion Mother Board

I have a HP Pavilion Computer which I bought in 2000
and I just bought another computer (exactly the same computer)
from an auction with no OS. I thought I can install the OS
from my old computer. But guess what? When I try to run
the HP recovery system CD on this new computer
it finds out it not the original computer and stops
the installation. By reading variuos forums I figured
there is something called tatooing the motherboard
and I need to tatoo the new computer motherborad.
Does any one can tell me where to download that utility
software? or any other solution. I tried the HP site but I couldn't find it.
    Any idea is greatly appreciated..

    Thanks in advance

Does it say "This is not the correct recovery disk for this computer", or something to the sort?? If so then yes the mobo needs tattooed and the only way to get that (to my knowledge) is by being as ASP (Authorized Service Provider) I could give you the website, but its password protected.

    Question

Do you absolutely need to make an exact replica of your fist HP Pavillion?

You could just start from scratch and use a different OS to experiment with (Linux, etc.).
