Internet Explorer 5.0 problem
When I close ie 5.0 often it will give me a kernell error message. The message will not close -- it stays on the screen, although it does not otherwise cause a crash. I can even open another ie 5.0 window. However, when I go to shutdown, it hangs on trying to close that window and therefore hangs, even if I tell it to shut down the window.
The exact error message is as follows:
IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 015f:bff87eb5.

I had the exact same problem. It was caused by advert.dll I deleted it and IE5 works fine again and doesn't crash when I try to close it. Do a find for advert.dll and try renaming it to advert.old and see if that works.

Hi,
Advert.dll is one of several causes for
"IE caused IPF in Kernal32" error message,
as are the items in Q155/1/16 and several other articles from MS.
And if you do find Advert.dll in Windows\System folder ,have a look here:
http://grc.com/optout.htm
It may apply to you.
If it doesn`t apply,it is info worth noting.
HIH,cheers
