    Post Modem Reboots computer?

    Have an older system that every time that I try to dial out it causes the computer to rebot itself.

    WIN98SE, SABRE computer, 32 meg ram, 4 gig HD

    there are two thing that come to mind, a bad PS or a virus.

    Checked Both , no viruses, and the PS checks out ok. (ATX PS.)

    Try it with a different modem. the one currently in the machine is probably just defective.

    Have used 4 different modems PCI and or ISA same thing happens with them also. LOL But thanks

    I had the same thing happen with a old 486sx25, pulled the soundcard and end of reboots, bad soundcard.

    Yes. See if it still reboots when you pull a card. then replace that card, and try another. If so, your power supply is a bit lean. Might want to check into replacing that.
