    Post Booting in DOS mode?

GRRRR! This is annoying. I needed to be able to boot into DOS mode recently to make some adjustments, but that option no longer exists. Even 2000 has a DOS-like Recovery Console. I seem to recall seeing somewhere a way to restore the Command Line mode in ME. Anyone know how to do this?

I've got the info somewhere....I used it once but it's kind of a pain. Once configured, you have to select Windows from the boot menu ever after..... <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0"> If it's just some drive/file maintenance you need to do, I'd just boot from a floppy to get to the HD without loading Windows....

yes...you first have to install the recovery console for win2k. I believe you do this by using \i386\winnt.exe /cmdcons

yes but cpt packrat asked a specific question and ............was given a link to a prog/sulution to solve his problem.

RE:jemongstat suggestions .....which i have not until now bothered to reply to (I dont want to get * million stars for replying "ok LOL")

I disagree with the Quote ......."yes...you first have to install the recovery console for win2k. I believe you do this by using \i386\winnt.exe /cmdcons "

I think you are refering to 2000 pro /etc ..NOT ME ....(unlees there is a directory on the ME disk that I didnt see ...was it a hidden directory called i386\winnt.exe ???? missed that one!!!

cpt packrat ....have a look at that link ...study it (as i am sure you will do) and decide if that is the sulution ...if so ask a question on the forum again ....asking any other users if they have had a prob will
the sulution and i am sure people will reply

    No flame ...cpt packrat

Yeah, Sowulo really hit the nail on the head with this statement. It's better to boot off of a Win98 bootdisk than it is to configure WinMe to boot into MS-DOS mode. The menu's a pain. I downloaded that zip file when it was on the main page here at windrivers and still have it if you need it, just ask. But really, save yourself a lot of trouble and just boot with a Win98 startup disk and do whatever you need to do.
